Healthy Children, Healthy Planet

The Healthy School Meals project develops a new, economically viable infrastructure for a Healthy Hot Meal and Salad Bar Program in a public school. To this end Spirit In Action has partnered The Accelerated School (TAS), whose students come from a low-income, multi-cultural inner city neighborhood. TAS, a k-12 charter school will become a model having meals
prepared on the premises. This 3-year project will develop a viable business and operational plan that meets all state, federal and district guidelines. The second and third years call for the plan's implementation (fall 2004) and documentation as well as marketing and distribution to school districts nationwide.
The Accelerated School in Los Angeles is a charter school that challenges
inner-city kids with tough coursework - and engages them with art and yoga.
